SPORTS & RECREATION

The Polytechnic participates regularly in the Nigerian Polytechnic Games, (NIPOGA) as well as the West African Polytechnic Games (WAPOGA). Sporting equipment/facilities are available on all campuses to cater for the students who are interested in sports activities. Top-class coaching with the best equipment is also available. Intra-School and Inter-departmental games are also organized annually.

To ensure active student participation in sporting activities, lectures end at 12 noon every Wednesday.
The Polytechnic has commenced preparation toward the opening of a Sports Complex on the Ikorodu permanent campus. The centre, when completed, will have all sporting facilities including a healthy living and sport medicine unit, where students and staff can receive a wide range of services from advice on diet, exercise to diagnoses and treatment of injury. Where the Polytechnic currently does not have facilities, arrangements are made for students to utilize such facilities where they are available. Our facilities include:

  • Lawn Tennis Courts
  • Standard Soccer Stadium
  • Fitness Centre
  • Students Activities Centre etc.

MEDICAL CENTRE

medical
The Polytechnic provides adequate medical services, for students who are duly registered at the Polytechnic’s Medical Centre at the beginning of every session.

Since the Polytechnic is non-residential, the Medical Centre opens from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and on weekends, when the School of Part-Time Studies holds its lectures.

Where necessary, patients are referred to the nearest General Hospital. Drugs are given out free of charge to all registered students of the Polytechnic, staff and their immediate families.

Enquiries on Health Services should be directed to the Directorate of Health Administration on the three campuses between 8.00am and 4.00pm every day.

All Students are mandated to complete Medical Registration Forms and submit the completed forms and their chest x-rays to the clinic during registration. It is pertinent to note that ONLY registered students are attended to in the clinic.

GUEST HOUSE

The LASPOTECH Guest House gets its unique selling preposition from this popular slogan: “No distraction, that is our attraction”
The Guest House which is situated within the Ikorodu campus is unique in its style and it gives utmost comfort to its customers.

All the facilities are of high standard and it is managed by a hotel consultant in Nigeria.

OUR ATTRACTIONS:

MASS COMMUNICATION

As the world gradually turns into a Global Village powered by the magic of communication, mass communication in Nigeria has continued to attract massive attention from prospective students. LASPOTECH has since risen up to the challenge by providing sound theoretical and practical training in all facets of communication.

The programme at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels is aimed at giving the students high-level technological education and professional skills necessary for employment in all areas of Mass Communication such as Print, Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising and Publishing.

Studying Mass communication in LASPOTECH is majorly practical-based. This is reflected in the series of studio work designed to strengthen the theory base given to the students. Regular internship in media and communication companies is also a departmental rule to expose students to real life scenarios even while in school.

INTERNET

The Polytechnic appreciates the great potentials that Information and Communication Technology play in meeting the challenges of education in Nigeria.

Given the enormous challenges facing the Institution in the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), it is our desire to promote the use of internet services and VSAT to link the Campuses and also open up the Polytechnic to the international business community.

VSAT was recently installed in the Polytechnic Library with a view to meeting with modern communication technology, and the global village syndrome. It is expected that the project would provide adequate network for all staff and students.

The Polytechnic has recently concluded work on the construction of Digital Centres for compulsory computer education and e-learning on the three Campuses.
These facilities provide modern state-of-the-art centres for e-learning and communication for students and staff of the Polytechnic.
