DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE One of the advantages of studying Architecture in Lagos State Polytechnic is the opportunity provided for students to learn under seasoned internationally-trained architects, most of whom are consultants to civil and structural engineering outfits in Nigeria. Apart from the extensive theoretical impartations in the classes, students are thoroughly groomed in practical studio works, with state-of–the-art facilities. The continuous assessment is based on 40% class work plus examination and 60% studio works. “Progressive match to meaningful development” -Discover an impressive achievement. DEPARTMENT OF HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY Our HMT programme is of international standard. The course content and delivery mode of our lecturers have made our students “hot cakes” in the hospitality and tourism market. Five star Hotels in Nigeria and our neighbouring counties have 80% of their work force drawn from the department. The programme is aimed at producing high quality personnel to manage Hotel/ Catering industries as well as the Tourist Industries. These include Institutional Catering, Hospital, Armed Forces, Park and Recreation, Ship, Casino etc. DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE If there is anything that has gained unprecedented attention across the globe in recent times, it is the computer. Almost everything is computer-based. LASPOTECH as a training institution is not leaving any stone unturned to catch the “bug” and equip erudite scholars that will develop and maintain indigenous computers. The Computer Science department of LASPOTECH has both digital and analogue laboratories. And the lecturers that impart knowledge to the students are professionals of international standard; these and more make our Computer Science programmes the best in Nigeria. It is a home-grown Department, fully established through the intervention of the Education Trust Fund in 1999. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING This department is a standing metaphor for our all important maxim: if you give a man one fish he will eat a single meal; if you teach him how to fish he will eat all his life. From the inception of this department, this saying has been the magic behind our success. The programme combines sound basic engineering principles with practical agriculture and maintenance work to give the students sufficient background knowledge necessary for them to be self-employed or proceed to higher programmes. The programme covers farm power and machinery, crop storage and processing, soil and water engineering, irrigation and drainage technology. The symbiotic relationship that exists between the Department and the School of Agriculture provides the student with excellent training in Basic Soil Science, Crop Production, Livestock and Fish Production, etc. |
